about zato

zato-one is a character that debuted in the very first guilty gear game, and has been a staple playable character in every installment of the series since then. hes a man who traded his eyesight (and sanity) for power by summoning the forbidden beast eddie and gaining the ability to control his own shadow. and then he died, but hes better now, though emotionless and essentially a husk of his former self. hes kind of a huge asshole. i like him.

why do i like zato?

okay, ill be honest, most of my enjoyment of zato is pretty surface level. his story is good, but it has been very... weird once xrd released and he was revived. i could go on and on, but if i were writing gg, id do his redemption way, way differently. however...

hes still a pretty damn important character to me thanks to his new strive design, which is practically exactly what i want in male character design. it also helped me come more into terms with my gender identity issues, somehow; i want to look like him, but still be a girl... does that make sense? regardless, i think hes very, very neat, even if his recent story has been more miss than hit. i still think he deserves a shrine, though, thanks to the help i got with my identity.
