this is the corner of my site in which ill just share some neat links to places i find cool. these can either be useful for creative hobbies or just novelty sites that you can visit when youre bored, and others inbetween.
let me know if there is anything wrong with these websites, such as possibly offensive content i didnt manage to find beforehand, or theyve gone offline, or the links are simply wrong and i never noticed.
i have nothing else to add. i didnt really plan the layout of this page very well because neocities was being mean to me.
the most classic and nostalgic website for sonic sprites & comics was brought back by one of its admins last year! i cant tell you how many hours i wasted just looking at all the available sprites and stuff in this website in its old incarnation. dont find much use of it anymore because ive been falling out of the sonic fandom as of late, but this is one of the most important and historic sonic websites in the history of the fandom, so i feel its only right to link it for everyone else to take a look through it and enjoy it as much as i did back then.
website that converts your images into pixel art. its not very good and very wacky. i fucking love the results.
this one still blows me the fuck away. its a whole taiko no tatsujin game playable from your web browser, and the song selection isnt flimsy. unfortunately it can lag your computer hard - i know it lags mine sometimes - and it doesnt tell you what the controls are right away. but if you manage to get yourself in the groove its very very fun, and even allows sign up & netplay. its incredible. you should play it at least once.
website run by a guy who makes a shitton of smilies since 2001. great for you people who love the 2000s edgy rawr aesthetic or if you listen to too much breakcore.
file uploading service that allows uploads of up to 200MB. i like it mostly because the name catbox makes me think of umineko, but its still pretty useful.
this site lets people create the word art from those funny old versions of microsoft word. clippy is there. the first thing i ever wrote in it was 'fuickkggj' and i dont regret it.
this is a really really old version of a pokemon wiki. most likely from an old 'fandom' domain before wiki adopted that name. its so incredibly dated i cant put it into words. the images are crusty, the colors are saturated, they have a shopping list and fanlistings and those 'top 50 webistes of [x]' buttons, and it has links for OTHER old fandom wikis from the 2000s. i love it so much. its so fucking stupid. please look at it
one of my favorite websites of all time. rough to navigate through, but if you manage to do it youll find a brand new world of music genres at your fingertips. i found so many good obscure music genres using this site, and they even build playlists for these very genres. i kind of doubt some of these genres actually exist, but to me theyre real and theyre good.
i dont know how to describe this one. its kind of mysterious and weird to use. its a chinese website for planning out your defenses for the first pvz game, probably for survival endless. youre probably not even gonna use it if youre not actively playing pvz like me, but it looks extremely neat and its an interesting window into the chinese pvz community, which is surprisingly large.
somehow this website is still alive. this page in specific is home to a bunch of old comics from the sonic fandom of old. theyre all kind of dated, and most are incomplete, but theyre still very fun to go through. for those more in the know though, you might recognize it as the home of ian flynn's (one of the main writers of the sonic comics) old fancomic other M. its kind of really edgy, but its pretty decent.
the BIGGEST bomberman fangame that i know of. as far as im aware, its got 600+ playable characters all spanning from the different games and iterations and universes of the bomberman franchise, and im pretty sure its got an active playerbase. havent gotten around to playing it myself, but its such an incredible sight i think itd be wrong to just keep it stuck in my browser favorites.
both of these are essentially the same site with a different coat of paint, but theyre different enough that theyre both worth checking out. basically just press the keys on your keyboard and listen to miku go beep boop beep boop to the tune of a small melody. its very fun if youre bored, and i somehow managed to play these two for 10 minutes straight. i dont know if thats a positive for the site or a negative for me.
tumblrs search function is infamously broken and eats posts regularly. this blog works as a better search function for tag searching, as long as the tag is among the first five in the post. this is a tumblr blog inside tumblr, which tells me the owner of it must be some fucking witchcraft master or whatever. tumblr losing at its own game is very funny though. i love this website.
VERY novelty website that lets you browse through a few cursor effects. they even let you add the sites effects onto your website, which is great. unfortunately not that many effects, but i imagine theyll be adding more with time.
just fucking download hypercam 2 right now
another favorite of mine. upload an image and make it into a stupid fucking gif within seconds. its so so good. has so many good effects. i spent a good few hours laughing my ass off with this website when i found it. just be warned, some of the effects are laggy, and at least one of them (hue rotate) is rapidly flashing colors.
*takes cigarette out of my mouth* i was there when it happened... an absolute classic of a website for those of us who used tumblr in 2013-2015. very dated, very stupid, one direction is there, but i love browsing it again every now and then to remember the chaotic, horrible mess that was old tumblr. we went from talking about pastel goth fashion and mustaches and fangirling to talking about cats and mens tits. idk how that happened. anyway, snazzy space.
this is one of those websites i always remember exists but never remember the actual name and as such can never find it, so im linking it here so that nobody else has to go through that same pain. personally? i dont find much use out of it. but im sure other graphic designers will.
people upload old versions of programs riiight here. i used it a few times to download old versions of itunes and firefox from 2010, and i recently used it to download a version of GNUimp when it was still good. has the vibes of a shady download website, but i never had any problems with it, and just the idea of the site itself is enough to put it here anyway.
an INCREDIBLE online museum that features copies of old versions of certain websites. its great if youre feeling just a bit nostalgic and want to remember the time when twitter actually allowed you to customize your fucking profile.
a carbon copy of the ms paint from windows 98/XP, straight from your web browser! last time i checked it didnt have drawing tablet support and i dont know if it still does, and i also dont use it much because i already have a version of windows vista ms paint downloaded into my computer, but those of you who like the 98/XP aesthetic will find this one a treat anyways.
similar to the previous one, but this is kid pix in your browser instead. i also dont find much use out of this because i was a tux paint kid, not a kid pix kid (tux paint >>>> all btw), but if you like kid pix and dont feel like scavenging through the net to find that version you used as a kid i think thisll satiate your thirst for a while.
super cool website that lets you add a shitton of effects to your images. has a lot of options, youll probably find a few uses for it.
out of all the image editing websites ive linked, this is probably the one i get the most use out of. it lets you remove/blur the edges of your image, which is really good for when youre trying to make an image for your website but youre bad at what you do. i think other neocities users will especially like this one.
